Over the past few months, youth and professionals in both Cyprus and Türkiye participated in two locally organised lifelong learning courses exploring how cities and neighbourhoods can become more inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant.

Extended Reality (XR) & “Phygital” Cities – Koç Üniversitesi KARMA Gerçeklik Laboratuvarı (Koç University)

  • Explored how XR technologies (AR/VR/MR) can reimagine urban life

  • Investigated digital twins, smart cities, and speculative design

  • Developed personas, prototypes, and participatory solutions to envision future neighbourhoods

Human-Centered Sustainability in Architecture & Urban Design – SURF Lab (University of Cyprus)

  • Focused on sustainability, accessibility, and wellbeing in urban spaces

  • Applied evidence-based design methods to create healthier, more inclusive environments

  • Collaborated in interdisciplinary teams to co-design future-ready neighbourhoods

What We Achieved

  • Hands-on experience in XR, speculative design, and human-centered sustainable urban planning

  • Strengthened skills in collaboration, prototyping, storytelling, and participatory design

  • Empowered participants to turn ideas into action and contribute to inclusive and resilient communities

A heartfelt thank you to all trainers, participants, and partners for making this a truly transformative experience!

The journey continues! Our digital training content, produced by AnkaraAks and SocialTech Lab, will soon be available on the NEBA Academy platform.

Stay tuned as we continue empowering youth-led innovation for beautiful, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
